You're Paying $159/Month For a Site You Can't Control

If you're a founder watching your mobile score stuck at 38 while competitors load in under a second, you've hit the Wix ceiling.

  • Ships Lighthouse 30–55 on mobile because the Wix editor injects 900KB of framework code into every page load
  • Blocks custom functionality outside their app marketplace -- your checkout workflow bends to their limitations, not your business model
  • Costs $17–$159/month in perpetual subscription fees while you never own a single line of the underlying codebase
  • Fails Core Web Vitals under traffic spikes because their shared CDN throttles during peak hours
  • Prevents A/B testing at the component level -- you're locked into their page builder's constraints
  • Charges extra for features most frameworks include free: form logic, dynamic routing, server-side auth
  • Deploy to Lighthouse 95–100 and pass Core Web Vitals on mobile -- your buyers see sub-second page loads, not 4-second Wix bloat
  • Own your entire codebase with full Git history -- cancel your Wix subscription and your site still runs forever
  • Build custom Stripe flows, member portals, and API integrations without marketplace permission or monthly add-on fees
  • Host on Vercel or Cloudflare for $0–$20/month instead of $159 -- that's 89% cost reduction with better uptime SLAs
  • Ship dynamic content, personalized recommendations, and real-time inventory without touching Wix's rigid page builder
  • Migrate in 14 days with full 301 redirect mapping -- your Domain Authority, backlinks, and rankings transfer intact with zero traffic loss

The Wix ceiling

Wix is an excellent tool for getting a site online quickly. It stops being excellent when you need: custom functionality that Wix apps do not cover, real Core Web Vitals performance, a site that is not on a Wix subdomain (or even on a custom domain with Wix''s code), or a frontend that a developer can maintain without touching the Wix editor.

What brings Wix users to us

Lighthouse scores in the 30-50 range on mobile. Wix''s generated HTML is bloated -- it includes the Wix editor framework in the page source even for visitors. Core Web Vitals consistently fail. And the moment you need functionality that Wix''s app market does not provide, you hit a wall.

The migration

Wix does not have a public API for content export. I extract content via structured scraping (legal, used for migration purposes), export structured data, and rebuild the site in Next.js with content in Supabase or a headless CMS. All SEO metadata is preserved. All URLs are mapped with 301 redirects.

FAQ

Common questions

Why is Wix bad for SEO?

Wix has improved its SEO capabilities significantly, but its generated HTML includes Wix editor framework code that inflates page weight. Core Web Vitals scores are consistently in the failing range on mobile. For businesses that rely on organic search, this is a real competitive disadvantage.

How do you export content from Wix?

Wix does not have a public content API. I extract content via structured scraping (legal for migration purposes), manual export of structured data, and direct export of any downloadable assets. All content is preserved.

Will I lose my domain?

No. Your domain stays yours. I transfer DNS to point to the new Next.js site on Vercel. Wix''s hosting is no longer needed after migration.

Can you replicate my Wix design?

I rebuild the design as clean React components — not a pixel-perfect Wix replica, but a better, faster implementation of the same design with proper component structure. If you want a full redesign alongside the migration, I scope that separately.

What Wix apps do I lose?

Wix-specific apps (Wix Forms, Wix Blog, Wix Members) are replaced with better alternatives: Formspree for forms, Supabase for content, and standard auth for members areas. Each replacement is evaluated and specified before migration begins.

Why are people leaving NextJS?

People might be moving away from Next.js due to its complexity for beginners, especially when compared to simpler static site generators. Some developers find the opinionated nature of Next.js limiting, as it enforces specific patterns for routing and data fetching. Additionally, Next.js may not always be the best fit for projects that don't require server-side rendering or dynamic content, leading some to opt for lighter, more flexible frameworks that better suit their project needs.

Is Wix a Russian company?

Wix is not a Russian company; it is an Israeli company. Founded in 2006 by Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami, and Giora Kaplan, Wix is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. The platform enables users to create HTML5 websites and mobile sites through the use of online drag-and-drop tools. Wix has grown into a globally recognized website builder, serving millions of users worldwide.
