Your Bike Parts Site Can't Tell a Customer Which Derailleur Fits Their Frame

If you're running a bicycle or e-bike parts business, you've watched cart abandonment spike every time a customer has to guess compatibility.

Overview — 01

Custom ecommerce for bicycle and e-bike parts dealers. Groupset compatibility, motor/battery fitment, and year-make-model search built in.

Bicycle and E-Bike Parts Ecommerce

A purpose-built ecommerce system for bicycle and e-bike parts retailers that replaces generic product catalogs with fitment-driven search, groupset compatibility logic, and e-bike electrical validation. It connects your storefront to distributor feeds from QBP, BTI, and direct supplier APIs so inventory, pricing, and dropship routing reflect what is actually available. The result is a buying experience where a customer enters their bike or motor system and sees only parts confirmed to fit.

The gap — 02

What is holding your current website back?

Common gaps we find in nearly every audit.

Customers abandon carts because they cannot confirm whether a derailleur, cassette, or brake set is compatible with their specific drivetrain before purchasing.
Risk: High return rates and support ticket volume eat into margin on low-ASP parts, and one-star reviews citing wrong fitment permanently damage your conversion rate on those SKUs.
E-bike electrical components such as batteries, controllers, and displays require voltage, connector type, and brand ecosystem matching that standard attribute filters cannot enforce.
Risk: Selling an incompatible battery results in warranty disputes, liability exposure, and customers who cannot ride the bike they just spent money repairing.
Orders split across QBP, BTI, and direct brands require manual decisions about which distributor fulfills each line item based on stock levels and freight zones.
Risk: Manual routing creates fulfillment delays, split shipments that erode customer trust, and staff time spent on logistics that should be automated.

Safeguards — 03

How we build this right

Every safeguard, built in from Day 1.

PCI DSS Compliant Checkout

Payment flows are architected so card data never touches your servers. We integrate Stripe or Authorize.net with tokenization and scope your checkout pages to meet PCI DSS SAQ A requirements out of the box.

Fitment Data Accuracy Controls

Compatibility rules are stored in a structured fitment database with admin review workflows, so a bad mapping cannot go live without a documented approval step. Audit logs track every change to groupset and motor compatibility records.

Distributor API Rate and Access Controls

Each distributor integration runs under authenticated API credentials with rate limiting and fallback logic so a feed outage at one supplier does not take down inventory visibility site-wide or expose raw supplier pricing in page source.

Scope — 04

What we build

Purpose-built features for your industry.

Groupset and Drivetrain Compatibility Engine

Customers select their existing groupset brand, tier, and speed count and the catalog filters to confirmed-compatible derailleurs, cassettes, chains, and shifters. Shimano and SRAM compatibility matrices are maintained in a relational fitment database your team can update without a developer.

E-Bike Electrical Fitment Validation

Battery, display, and controller listings carry structured attributes for voltage, ampere-hour rating, connector standard, and brand ecosystem. A customer entering their motor system sees only electrically compatible options and receives a warning before adding a mismatched part to cart.

Year-Make-Model Bike Search

A progressive lookup lets customers enter the year, brand, and model of their complete bike and see all compatible parts across your catalog in a single filtered results page. The vehicle database is maintained by your team through a structured admin interface and can be seeded from NBDA or manufacturer data.

Multi-Distributor Dropship Routing

Each SKU maps to one or more distributor sources with priority rules based on your margin thresholds, freight zones, and real-time stock. When an order is placed, routing runs automatically and sends the purchase order to the correct supplier via EDI or API without staff intervention.

Our development process

From discovery to launch. Quality at every step.

01

Catalog and Fitment Audit

1-2 weeks

We map your existing SKU catalog, identify compatibility gaps, and define the fitment data model for your specific mix of mechanical and e-bike parts. Distributor API access and feed formats are documented and tested in a staging environment.

02

Fitment Database and Search Build

2-3 weeks

The groupset compatibility engine, e-bike electrical validation rules, and year-make-model lookup are built and loaded with your catalog data. Search indexing is configured so filtered results return in under 300 milliseconds on a full catalog.

03

Distributor Integrations and Routing Logic

2 weeks

Live connections to your distributor feeds are built, tested against real inventory responses, and routed through the fulfillment logic. Split-order handling, out-of-stock fallback, and purchase order generation are validated end to end before any customer traffic hits the system.

04

QA, Launch, and Handoff

1 week

Fitment accuracy is tested across a sample of known-compatible and known-incompatible part pairings. Checkout flows are verified under PCI scope. Your team receives documentation and a recorded walkthrough of the fitment database admin, distributor routing rules, and catalog management tools.

Frequently asked questions

Every product gets tagged with compatibility attributes--speed count, groupset family, generation, interface standards. When a customer picks their setup (say, Shimano Deore XT 12-speed), the catalog filters to show only parts that'll actually bolt on. And this isn't just a UI trick--it happens at the database query level, so search results, recommendations, and bundles all follow the same rules automatically.
Absolutely. We build a dedicated fitment matrix for e-bike electrical systems covering motor platforms (Bosch, Shimano Steps, Brose, Bafang, hub motors), battery voltages, connector types, and mounting standards. The system won't let a customer pair a 36V battery with a 48V motor, or order a display that doesn't speak the right CAN bus protocol. That alone can kill a lot of support tickets.
We build real-time integrations with QBP, HLC, J&B Importers, and other major bicycle distributors. Product data, pricing, and inventory sync on a schedule you control--typically every 15-60 minutes. You can also automate purchase orders entirely, so when a customer checks out, the PO routes to whichever distributor has stock and the better margin.
Customers enter their bike's brand, model, and year. The system cross-references OEM spec data to pull the axle standard, brake mount, bottom bracket, seatpost diameter, and other fitment details, then filters the whole catalog against those specs. We can source this data from manufacturer databases or build it from your team's existing knowledge.
We implement structured data (Product, Offer, AggregateRating schema) on every product page, plus custom fitment markup. Pages are server-rendered with Next.js for fast initial loads and clean, crawlable HTML. Spec tables, compatibility info, and FAQs are structured to win featured snippets for long-tail queries like "Shimano XT 12-speed compatible cassette."
Yes--we can integrate with your POS system (Lightspeed, Square, Shopify POS) to keep inventory synced across channels. Online orders can draw from store stock, distributor stock, or both. Ship-from-store, local pickup, and same-day delivery are all configurable per location.
