Social Animal wasn't named by a branding agency. It was named after Jazz, a beagle. Our founder is Jazz's dad. If you run an animal shelter, rescue, wildlife sanctuary, or animal welfare charity — anywhere in the world — we'll build you a website that actually helps you save more lives. For a fraction of what you'd normally pay. Because every animal deserves a shot, and every organization doing this work deserves technology that pulls its weight.
FAQ
Why are your rates so much lower for animal rescues?
Social Animal was named after Jazz, our founder's beagle. Animal welfare isn't a marketing angle for us — it's why the company exists. We subsidize 60–75% of our standard rate for registered charities because we think every rescue organization deserves proper technology. We absorb the difference. Not a loss leader. A mission.
Do we need to be a registered charity to qualify?
We do require charitable registration — 501(c)(3) in the US, registered charity in the UK, or the equivalent in your country. That keeps the subsidy going to legitimate organizations. If you're an informal rescue without registration yet, reach out anyway. We look at each situation individually and can often find a way to help.
Will adoptable animal profiles actually rank on Google?
Yes. We use a directory architecture that generates individual SEO-optimized pages for every animal in your system. Five hundred animals means 500 pages, each targeting specific searches like "golden retriever adoption Austin" or "senior cat adoption near me." It pulls in organic traffic from people who are already looking to adopt in your area — they just don't know about you yet.
Can the site sync with Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet automatically?
We integrate with the Petfinder API, Adopt-a-Pet API, and RescueGroups API. When a staff member updates an animal's profile — new photos, status change, marked as adopted — it syncs across all platforms automatically. No double-entry, no stale listings showing animals that found homes three weeks ago.
What does hosting cost after launch?
Hosting passes through at our actual cost: $25–45 per month for Supabase and Vercel combined. No markup, no annual license. Optional maintenance runs $200–500 per month and covers updates, monitoring, and new features. Both are genuinely optional — you own the code and can self-host if that works better for you.
How long does the build take from start to launch?
Most rescue sites launch within six weeks. Week one is discovery and data audit. Weeks two through five are the build — animal profiles, adoption forms, donation platform, foster matching, volunteer tools. Week six is staff training, launch, and the start of 30 days of post-launch support.
